Man Tested Covid-19 Positive On Run In Kakumiro

Kakumiro District covid-19 taskforce has launched a manhunt for a 30 year-old man who has been tested and confirmed to be covid-19 positive.
The Kakumiro district covid-19 case is among the 16 confirmed cases from 3,455 samples tested on Wednesday June, 24 this year.
The Kakumiro Resident District Commissioner, Apollo Mugume while speaking to KAGADI TV UG today narrated that the victim who had come from Kasese with intentions of starting a none government organization in Kakumiro town council, was last week subjected to a test by picking his nasal swab samples after the taskforce got suspicious.
After taking his samples, the victim chose to self quarantine.
However, Mugume said that the taskforce is now hunting him so as to avoid spreading the virus to other people around the community.
He adds that the victim has put off his telephone contacts something which is making it hard to trace him. He calls upon community members who might have come into contact with him to offer themselves voluntarily for testing.
“We are now at a high risk of contracting the virus due to this man who has just disappeared from our hands, am there far calling upon the public to cooperate and positively respond to our heath team for more information about the said person ”says Robert Senteza the Kakumiro district health officer.
The Ministry of Health has confirmed 16 new COVID-19 cases from 3,455 samples tested on Wednesday June, 24, bringing the total number of cases to 821.
Five new cases were among 1,626 samples tested from Point, of Entry while 11 were among 1,829 samples of alerts and contacts. All confirmed cases are Ugandans.
Five of the confirmed cases are truck drivers (four arrived from South Sudan via Elegu, while one arrived from Kenya via Busia Point of Entry.
Eleven of the confirmed cases are alerts and contacts to previously confirmed cases (four from Kyotera, four from Ammo, one from Tororo, one from Kakumiro and one from Luwero district).
