MP Barnabas asks greater Mpeefu residents to be calm on their land, says no one will evict them

Leaders of Mpeefu pressure group on land issues have declined to attend a meeting that was organized by the area members of parliament and the Kagadi district RDC Lillian Ruteraho at Kagadi modal P/S in Kagadi town council Kagadi district to discuss the way forward in re-dressing the land conflicts in greater Mpeefu in Kagadi district.

This follows the warning letter signed by Ssentimba and Company Advocates owned by land title owners threatening to evict residents in greater Mpeefu Sub County in ultimatum of 45 day.

Speaking to KAGADI TV UG after the meeting, Hon Barnabas Tinkasimiire the Buyaga West legislator has asked residents of greater Mpeefu Sub County to be calm on their land assuring them that no one will evict them.

Barnabas promises that he is ready to finance lawyers to stand in court with whoever attempts to evict residents on their lands.

Hon Barnabas has dismissed allegations being spread by his political rivals that he owns a land title in Mpeefu greater.

He clarifies that his land of about 01 Square mile is located in Mukikazi- Buraza and he acquired it in lawful procedures.

The Kagadi district RDC Mrs. Lillian Ruteraho and Hon Jennifer Mbabazi have asked residents to be calm on their lands, carry on with their economic activities that their issues are known by President Yoweri Museven, the government and no one will evict them.

Members in attendance have resolved to have another meeting on 26th Aug, 2020 at Mpeefu sub county headquarters Kasojo to discuss on the same matter.

The function was also graced by Hon Nkwasibwe Robert Birahure the Mpeefu sub county Lc3 chairperson also member of the pressure group, Hon Mbusa Andrew the Mpeefu sub county district councilor, Hon Julius Twesigye aka Urban Masasi the Mpeefu ya Sunday town council district councilor hopeful among others.

NRM National second vice chairperson aspirant Namugnza meets Kagadi delegates as well as Sanjay Taana

As elections for NRM draw nearer, Persis Namuganza the Minister for lands, housing and urban development has met NRM delegates in Kagadi district as she seeks mandate NRM National second vice chairperson (Female).

Hon.Persisi Namuganza is challenging speaker of parliament Rebbeca Kadaga on the seat.

Hon.Persis meets the NRM delegates from Kagadi Kibaale and Kakumiro Respectively at seyeya courts in Kagadi town council Kagadi district.

She has assured the people of Kagadi that if given mandate land issues and illegal land titles will be solved since she has the lands ministry.

Meanwhile, Sanjay Taana the aspirant National Vice chairperson Eastern Uganda has also meet the NRM delegates from the three districts to ask for support to vote for him as a one way of bringing development to all NRM structures.

Sanjay has contested with Mike Mukula who has been in office for fifteen years.

The NRM delegates have promised support towards development of the party and their areas as well.

Kagadi registers another COVID-19 Patient as Uganda’s Death toll rises to 12

Kagadi district has registered another COVID-19 Patient bringing to a total number of two.

Recently the district registered the first case of COVID-19 who was treated and discharged at Hoima Regional Referral hospital. 

According to the Kagadi district COVID-19 task force chairperson who also doubles as the Resident district Commissioner (RDC) Lillian Ruteraho, the victim is 36 year old man resident of Wakiso district.

Ruteraho says the Victim and other ten (10) people had come into the district to do the works of auditing the Shegli engineering Construction Company limited that was contracted to tarmac Kabwoyo-Kagadi-Kyenjojo Road.

She says they all resided at DEMO Hotel in Kagadi town council Kagadi district.

Ruteraho however expressed her fear saying by the time of releasing the results the patient and other suspects had departed from the district after their work.    

She said the investigations of the alerts and their contacts have commenced as they look forward tracing for the patient.

Meanwhile today the Ministry of Health confirmed another death of one Covid-19 patient, bringing the number of people who have succumbed to the disease in Uganda to twelve.

A statement by the ministry says that 32 new Covid-19 cases were confirmed from samples tested on Thursday, bringing the cumulative confirmed cases in Ugandans to 1,385.

 

Kagadi RDC meets aspiring MPs, LC 5 chairpersons over Covid-19 SOPs

The Kagadi district Covid-19 task force has issued Standard Operating Procedures SOPs for the candidates while conducting campaigns ahead of NRM party election for flag bearers.

These were resolved in a meeting called by the head of Kagadi district Covid-19 task force RDC Lillian Ruteeraho with candidates on the level of Member of Parliament and LCV at her office in Kagadi town council Kagadi district this afternoon aimed at coming up with measures on how contain the spread of the pandemic during campaigns.

RDC Ruteraho said they resolved that candidates should observe social distancing, putting on face masks, shunning holding of rallies and processions, washing of hands and using sanitizers among others and in default face the law.

In an interview with KAGADI TV UG shortly after the meeting, the Buyaga West legislator who is also seeeking for another term in office Hon Barnabas Tinkasimire enlightened that the SOPs set are necessary and they will try as much as possible for their voters’ safety however they are hard to follow in political season.

He further called upon security personnel to give the contestants a political space to compete properly for the free and fair elections in order to avoid complaints by losers.

Meanwhile the Kagadi district woman Member of Parliament Hon Jenifer K Mbabazi, Kagadi district LCV chairperson Hon Stephen Byaruhanga Mfashingabo and the aspirant Buyaga East MP Kerian Tukamushaba aka Rukwata Entare also agreed with the SOPs set and promised to  follow them thereby appealing the general public to do the same.

Former IGP Kale Kayihura loses mother

The mother of former Inspector General of Police Gen. Kale Kayihura has died at the age of 92.

A family member told KBS that Catherine Tibemanya Mukarwamo passed away today morning. The cause of death has yet to be revealed.

Hailing from Kisoro district in western Uganda, Mukarwano was the sister to the late Justice Joseph Mulenga and also mother to KBS correspondent Dismus Buregyeya.

Tentative funeral arrangements indicate that she will be laid to rest on Saturday.
