All 40 samples of contacts of a confirmed covid-19 case in Kakumiro district have tested negative.
The Kakumiro District health Officer, Robert Senteza says the 40 samples were last week picked from people who came into contact with the case which was confirmed last week.
He made the revelation last evening while speaking to KAGADI TV UG. He describes this as good news as people had been blanketed by anxiety over the possible spread of the pandemic in the district.
He adds that there will be more testing of all the contacts who are currently under institutional quarantine and in self isolation before they are introduced in the community
The Kakumiro Resident District Commissioner, Apollo Mugume who is the covid-19 taskforce chairperson says they are still looking for contacts of the covid-19 case for testing. He has called for extra vigilance among members of the general public against the disease.
Over 40 people are currently in quarantine after coming into contact with Tom Bwambale who was recently tested and found positive for covid-19 in Kakumiro Town council. He was however last week intercepted while in Kasese district here he was picked and taken to Bwera hospital.
