Kagadi
Kagadi district has confirmed its first COVID-19 case being reported in Kitooro cell Kitegwa ward Kagadi town council.
According to sources, the patient recently travelled from his home in Bugembe town council of Jinja city and came to Kagadi to look for a greener pasture.
Dr Henry Mwebesa, the Director General Health Services in the Ministry of Health has announced that the Kagadi case is among the 8 new cases confirmed from the 2,405 samples tested for COVID-19 yesterday.
It is said the male patient boarded Kasamba bus to come to Kagadi.
The 8 new cases, Dr Mwebesa said include 2 alerts, 5 contacts and 1 returnee.
Two are alerts from Kampala and Kagadi districts while 5 are contacts (3 from Amuru and 2 from Lamwo districts).
However, when contacted for a comment the Kagadi district Health Officer Dr. James Olowo declined to comment.
Kagadi covid-19 surveillance team coordinated with a team form Hoima regional referral hospital to evacuate the patient for treatment.
Uganda as of today has 1,051 cumulative total confirmed cases, 1,014 recoveries and no fatalities.
