Kyabaranzi C.O.U parish in Kagadi archdeaconry
Bunyoro Kitara diocese have donated food items worth Ug shs 2.5m to Kagadi
district coved 19 task force.
Handing over the relief at RDC’s office in Kagadi
town Kagadi district last evening, Rev Shem Bagire of Kyabaranzi C.O.U parish
said their donation includes 180 bunches of matooke, cassava, fruits among
others.
He says this has been their contribution as the
church in helping the hungry during this corona virus lock down.
Mrs. Lillian Ruteraho the Kagadi district RDC and
the chairperson Kagadi district covid-19 task force appreciated God who
inspired the believers with the giving spirit and that the donated food items
will be distributed to the neediest.
Hon Steven Byaruhanga Mfashingabo the Kagadi
district LC5 chairperson suggested the task force to consider market vendors as
the first beneficiaries on the food items because the lock down affected them
most.
Meanwhile Rev Canon Theho Irumba of Kagadi
archdeaconry has asked the government to lift the lock down on the places of
worship asserting that as the church they have a role to play in containing the
covid-19 pandemic with prayers.
He says if churches are open, as the clergy they
will observe the health guidelines to avert the spread of the deadly novel
corona virus.
The function was also graced by Mr. Fred Balemezi
the deputy CAO, Dr.James Oluwo the Kagadi district DHO, Religious leaders
across Kagadi archdeaconry among others.
